TOOLS AND FEATURES

Legal Research with Artificial Intelligence (Machine Learning)
JurisCase has developed a very powerful artificial intelligence feature designed to learn users’ searching habits and patterns, in order to produce the most relevant search results.

The purpose of JurisCase’s artificial intelligence feature is to study the user’s search patterns, anticipate other court cases the user would want to see, and populate the search results with the relevant cases at the top of the list. By understanding which cases the user values the most, JurisCase’s machine-learning feature can locate similar court cases, and help the user conduct legal research in a fraction of the time.

Side Note Feature
This feature allows you to take notes while you conduct your legal research. It is designed to act as a virtual notepad on your screen to help you better organize your thoughts while you do your research.

JurisCase’s Notepad Editor is one of the most requested tools because it helps users easily collect the necessary/important sections of a court case, while annotating the court case for personal use. In addition to improving the organization of the research, the Notepad Editor is used to collect, save, and share notes with other users of JurisCase.

Citation Check
JurisCase makes it easy for users to spot negatively treated cases. Any citations that have been negatively treated at some point will have a caution symbol indicating the matter.

The Negative Treatment Indicator is designed to spot possible negatively treated headnotes of the court case. When a headnote is highlighted yellow, this means that there is a possible negative treatment in that headnote. When highlighted pink, this suggest that there is a strong likelihood that the headnote is negatively treated. As the user searches for case law, they will come across court cases with a caution symbol in the search results, from time to time, which indicates that there is a strong likelihood of negative treatment.

Headnote Feature

The use of headnotes allows users to conduct legal research in the fastest way possible. With this feature, it is very easy to locate exactly where all negatively treated cases reside.

JurisCase has organized cases in a headnote structure to allow users to easily skim through the text and find what they are searching for. The headnotes are designed in a way to reduce the strain on the eyes when reading through many cases. Ultimately, headnotes allow users to conduct legal research in a fast and less-exhausting mann

Vertical-Citation Relevancy Searching

The Vertical-Citation Relevancy Searching feature enables users to search through relevant cases that have been cited within a specific court case.

This feature allows users to go in depth when searching for relevant cases that have occurred in the past. The Vertical-Citation Relevancy Searching has three levels of vertical relevancy:

Level 1: Direct citations of previous court cases within a specific court case

Level 2: Citations of previous court cases within the cases in Level 1

Level 3: Citations of previous court cases within the cases in Level 2

Horizontal-Citation Relevancy Searching

The Horizontal-Citation Relevancy Searching feature allows users to easily search and find court documents that cite a specific court case, which enables users to locate court documents of higher relevancy.

When a user finds a court case, the Horizontal-Citation Relevancy Searching allows the user to search through every court document that cites the original court case. Users may also use keywords to search through Horizontally-Related cases.

Advanced Keyword Searching

JurisCase’s database is able to search multiple variations of a single keyword to make your search results even more relevant for you.

JurisCase’s keyword searching function is unlike any regular search functions. When making a search in JurisCase, many algorithms are used to find the most relevant court cases. Before the search results appear, the system will sort the results by placing the most relevant cases on top of the list and the least relevant at the bottom. This feature saves legal researchers time and energy, because they won’t have to waste time finding relevant cases in the search results.

Latent Semantics Indexing
LSI, or latent semantics indexing, is a powerful feature that allows attorneys to search every possible variation of keywords in one search.

Legal research is more than knowing what to search, it is a behavior. The constant curiosity of finding new information to support your case depends on the database’s ability to understand what you are searching for. The Latent Semantics Indexing feature allows users to search using common knowledge, due to the system’s ability to search possible variations of every keyword that is searched.

Folders & Organization for Legal Research

JurisCase allows users to conduct legal research and organize their findings in a CRM-like software. With the ability to create and organize folders, users can assign their saved cases and notes to any client’s folder. This feature also makes it easy for users to bookmark their favorite court cases for easier access at a later point.

High Relevancy Searching
JurisCase’s Simple D
High Relevancy Searching
Searching by group variations and keyword exclusions makes it possible for attorneys to narrow down the research to the most relevant cases.

JurisCase allows users to make keyword-based searches with complete control of the relevancy of the search results. Whereas the industry standard is to use Boolean connectors, JurisCase makes it more simple for the user to narrow down search results by allowing the user to select keyword groups, variations, and exclusions in each search.

JurisCase's Simple Design
JurisCase is designed to be a simple, no-clutter interface to give attorneys the ability to quickly skim through search results to find the necessary cases.

Every attorney, from new graduates to seasoned attorneys, knows the pain of doing hours of tedious legal research. JurisCase is the only legal research database that takes into account the health of the user. We have strategically design our interface to both relieve the strain on the eyes and to improve the user’s ability to spot useful information while skimming through our records.
